Charles, I knew from the start I liked you.
Now I am positive.
Yes, McCarthy was a true American hero. He knew our politicians were putting communists in high ranking positions in the federal government. Even the presidents in that time period were communist sympathizers.
They were rubbing elbows with the likes of Stalin. It was a sad state of affairs in this country back. And people don't get why Reagan was so hell bent on ridding the world and US of communism and it's ties to the USSR. Anytime someone brings up Iran-Contra; they never fully realize what Reagan did. To talk about communism in this day and age;people don't even bat an eyelash. But back during McCarthy's tenure as the resident Ken Starr..it was spreading like wildfire and invading our country and in every crack and crevice of our way of life. The communists were planting teacher sin the schools. What better way to get a firmer hold of this nation, then to take young minds and mold them at an early age.
McCarthy may have a tarnished name. But historians who want a true account of US history know what he did for this country.

For what?  Opposing communism, and telling people what a threat it is to freedom?  Most people equate McCarthy with the committee on unamerican activities.  In fact most US History texts teach that he was in charge of that committee.  Of course that's completely erroneous because the full title of that committee is the HOUSE Committee on Unamerican Activities and McCarthy was a Senator.

McCarthy was a genuine American hero.  Read Ann Coulter's book and you will be surprised at how things have been skewed.
