The problem with that is Bill McCollum is in the race, and has been even before Graham dropped out. He has served the state well and I think it's a shame to shove him aside.
I don't know that Martinez can carry the state. He can carry the Orlando area, but he might have trouble south of O-town even with the Hispanic last name. He will also have difficulty carrying the panhandle because of name recognition. Martinez's decision comes after renewed urging by top Bush adviser Karl Rove and the recent decision by incumbent Sen. Bob Graham to retire. Martinez has reportedly had recent discussions with Sen. George Allen, R-Va., chairman of the Senate GOP Campaign Committee and sources say that the president wants Martinez to run. Martinez's decision may be bad news for Rep. Katherine Harris, R-Fla. Harris, an extremely popular Republican, said she is considering leaving her first term in the U.S. House to run for the Senate seat herself. Florida will be a key battleground state, and like the 2000 election, it may decide the next president. President Bush needs your help now more than ever. _______________________________________________ Sndbox mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://sandboxmail.net/mailman/listinfo/sndbox_sandboxmail.net
