Married
with Children joins the ranks of Season One DVD sets that show how
dated a show is. Remember how hip and edgy it was that the Bundy’s
insulted each other? Now that Will and Grace mock their sexuality
every week, this looks like The Cosby Show.
Mind you, it took a little while before Married got into the
really edgy stuff: the physical abuse and overt sexuality. Here, you
only get the beginnings of Al’s hatred towards everybody and Peggy’s
negligence. It would only be in later seasons that they’d subject
each other to spinning wheels and smotherings by fat women. These
episodes seem quaint.
