Why?  Perfectly valid question.  In fact, it is one of the questions on the exam for my doctoral level Daniel course.  Part of the reason Nebuchadnezzar was so corrupt was because he could be.  Part of the reason God was able to protect Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego was because he was not corrupt, and transcended the supposed ultimate power of the earthly king.
 
There is nothing wrong with asking a faith stretching question.  There is no reason for "shame" to be on me for posing the question.  Fortunately, I don't require your validation.
