Santa Speedo Run
The Santa Speedo Run is made up of Boston-area men dressed only in Speedos and Santa beards and hats. Last year, the run held in mid-December had 100 people register for $20 each, with proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, the Boston Globe reports. This year the mid-December run had 100 people register with about $100 in pledges each to raise $10,000 for the Children's AIDS Program at Boston Medical Center. The run started with five friends challenging each other to do something "crazy" and they came up with Speedo running. "It's strength in numbers, so no one person is going to stand out," says Jon Ianelli, one of the original Speedo runners.
