Osbourne breathing on his own

LONDON -- Singer Ozzy Osbourne is breathing without the aid of a ventilator for the first time since his near-fatal accident, according to the London Telegraph. The former Black Sabbath singer broke eight ribs, his collarbone and cracked a vertebra in his neck on Dec. 8 when he wrecked his quad bike at his Buckinghamshire estate. He had been on a ventilator since he underwent emergency surgery following the accident. A statement from Wexham Park Hospital in Slough said Osbourne is now breathing independently. On Monday, according to the report, Osbourne, 55, talked with his wife, Sharon, for the first time since the accident. The couple, along with two of their children, star in a popular MTV cable series titled "The Osbournes." In related news, a duet by Osbourne and his daughter, Kelly, topped the music charts this week, according to the London Telegraph report.
