#6 Hugh Jackman
This Aussie actor, who got his start in television series
and on the Australian stage, made his Broadway debut this year playing
singer-songwriter Peter Allen in "The Boy From Oz." Although the show has
earned rave reviews from doubting critics, it's a far cry from the superhero
heroics that earned Jackman attention as Wolverine in the wildly popular
"X-Men" movies, including this year's "X2." All that action experience has
made Jackman the new favorite to take over from Pierce Brosnan as the next
James Bond. Right now, however, he's working on "Van Helsing," an
action-adventure film scheduled for release next year. Jackman plays the title
character, a monster hunter on a mission to destroy Dracula, the Wolf Man, and
Frankenstein's Monster. Cementing his now-secure spot in Hollywood, this year
Jackman also topped Entertainment Weekly's annual list of the 100 Most
Creative People in Entertainment.
