Thune Challenges Daschle

What a great day for Republicans: Mel Martinez is running for the open U.S. Senate seat in Florida, and popular former Rep. John Thune of South Dakota, also heeding the call of Karl Rove and company, hopes to topple one of the most despised Democrats in America, obstructionistic Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle.

Thune intends to disclose his plans to run at a GOP dinner in Sioux Falls, the Associated Press reported today.

Thune would have unseated Sen. Tim Johnson in 2002 if Democrats hadn't bribed American Indians, given multiple names before voting and perpetrated their other usual forms of vote fraud.

Let's hope that this time the notoriously wimpy Republican establishment will stand up to the Democrat election thieves in what is sure to be one of the nation's nastiest races this year.
