Not All British Eating Produce
Despite an aggressive campaign by the British government to encourage people to eat at least five servings of fruit and vegetables a day, some people do not. A poll among 1,000 adults for the charity Cholesterol UK finds of Britain's population of 40 million, 3.5 million eat fruits or vegetables once or twice a week and 1 million never do, the Daily Telegraph reports. The survey also finds while 90 percent say they always or generally ate a healthy diet, 2.5 million ate fries or potato chips daily, 6 million ate takeout food once or twice a week and 500,000 had take-out food every day. The charity says the public is largely unaware of the dangers of high cholesterol.
