Hey Rich,

Have you gotten a simple client to work with https.

I would try to get things working that way first.  I also would check if the
JSSE jars (jnet.jar, jssse.jar, jce.jar) are installed correctly on the
classpath or in
<JAVA_HOME>/jre/lib/ext .
