Excellent - finally the penny drops!!! My mistake, as you realised, was that I
did not appreciate where soap related classes and jars should be placed. I had
the soap.jar placed in the <tomcat-home>\lib\
directory, as were all the soap application jars. Now I understand that the soap.jar as well as soap application jars should be placed,
under normal circumstances, in the <tomcat-home>\webapps\soap\WEB-INF\lib\
directory. Soap application classes should be placed in the <tomcat-home>\webapps\soap\WEB-INF\classes\ directory. Thanks for your perseverance Scott –
