Greetings!

I've been off the list for some time now, but I ran
across something that I thought some of you
might be interested in.

I remember that a lot of you Thermal dudes liked
putting altimeter watches in your planes, but the
watches always cost around 200 bucks or so.

I just bought a cyclometer for my wife's mountain
bike, and I got her one that has an altimeter! It measures
in 5' increments, seems pretty acurate (compared against
topo maps of some of our trails) and has a resettable
trip altitude gain function! You just reset the trip gain to
zero, and start climbing. Or riding.

This unit comes off the mounting bracket via a release lever,
and is made for hikers to carry either on a watchband (optional
accessory) or in a pocket.

It's called the Cateye Cyclocomputer, model CC-AT100,
and it cost me $89.00 at Simi Cycle, but I've seen them similarly
priced at REI, Sports Chalet, and in various magazine adverts.

The unit is a little larger than the face of a Casio 'G-Shock'
watch, but should fit in most fuselages. Go to a bike store
and check it out if you're so inclined.

Just thought I'd mention it, in case nobody ran across one
before. If you've already had threads about it, please excuse
my intrusion. :-) As I said, I've been off the list for some time,
and am still off. I'll probably get back on when I'm flying a bit
more regularly.

Best of lift to you all,

Lex
