Still is? I don't agree with that. F3B is much more exciting than our AMA version of TD flying. The speed part will pump your blood up, and the distance task is exciting too. Especially when in great lift. I have been re-invigorated by learning F3B. I wish more realized that it is a very cool contest. As far as requiring lots of support, it can be done without outside help. The AZ guys run an excellent contest with most support coming from the pilot teams. And the FAI events require team work.Something that we Americans don't do very much of in soaring. F3J is closer to our TD event, but requires heavy team interaction with towman, and possibly a launcher to get the most from a launch. Have I gone off the deep end? You bet. I've learned alot more too just from flying F3B.
