Assuming that the plane is in any kind of decent shape at all this sounds
like a real good deal. Even if the monokote is gnarly and there are a few
"character building experiences" visible the plane might be just about the
best that there is for a new glider pilot. In fact, a Paragon can win any TD
contest you are likely to find that isn't very windy, given the right pilot.
The Ace radio has some die hard fans, but in general they can be a little
odd, and repair parts/service may be iffy. If it works, I'd say go for it at
the price, but expect to buy another radio sometime in the future if you
really get hooked on the hobby.

 Hello group.
I am a newbie to flying gliders, so I went out and did what everyone
suggests
and went to a local flying field. Everyone was real nice and I was invited
out
on Wednesday for the club night. I was also offered a plane by someone.
Said
it was a good one to learn on. It is a Pierce Paragon. He said he would
sell
it to me with a radio (ace 4 channel) and all the servos, batteries and
charge
needed to fly for $175.00 and he would also through in a high start. It
sounds
like a good deal to me. What are your thoughts? From my search of the
internet
it looks like the Paragon is a good plane, but I don't know about the
radio.
Any advice would be great. I should be seeing the plan next Wednesday.
 Thanks in advance.
