I just got a hold of a NIB Hobie with the extra 10 foot wings!! here is the problem I can not seem to get this plane to fly right I have set it up as outlined in the Original Hobie manuel and it is just not right! (by the way ten foot wings flex ALOT on a winch!). With the 100 inch wings it seems to fly ok but, with the ten footers it just wont trun...this makes no sense to me as the tail moment is much shorter with the ten footers!" Steve: Another reason perhaps, why you have difficulty with the Hobie Hawk flying too slow, is that the front of the fuselage is not symmetrical. It is underslung entirely below the centerline of lift for the wing and tail. This means that in order to fly at the correct trim speeds, the centerline of the nose must be angled down. When you first fly the Hobie, this is hard to understand. But if you fly it to "Look" like other gliders in the air, it is flying too slow and always on the verge of a stall. Always remember to keep the nose DOWN. As though you were trying to go down. It will fly faster, and the wing will have a better L/D. RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
