Which brings up a couple of things I wanted to say.

First, I loved that an off field landing to the west was a zero. CVRC did
this for safety reasons.

However I think it should extend to ALL off field landings. Basically I
think you should only get flight points if you get back to the landing area
or the dirt patch to the south of the landing zone. After all, this is
supposed to be a high caliber contest and I think that exercising the
judgement on when to bail from marginal lift in order to get back to the
field is worth something more than flying into the cotton field a half-mile
to the east.

Second. I also think CVRC should STRONGLY consider establishing a second
line about 10 feet north of the zero landing points line that they used this
year. This would be where the pilots would stand and the cost for crossing
this line would be a zero flight as well. There were just TOO many pilots
flying into the crowd of other pilots for my liking. Since the only penalty
was a zero landing I don't think most people took it seriously enough. CASL
does this at their contest and goes so far as to put up a crash fence. Good
idea.

Other than the parking thing, this was yet another fantastic Visalia. Great
job by the CVRC!!!!

Oh yeah, love the raffle, but it just has to be done faster. Assign a number
to each item, don't spend a minute describing it, just call the winner and
tell them to come and get it!!

Also, as much as donations are truly appreciated and the support CVRC gets
is awesome, I've just got to tell you that the prospect of winning a case of
motor oil, a weed whacker, or a set of crystal napkin rings is not going to
make me want to buy a whole bunch of tickets. It would be fine by me to see
a smaller (faster) raffle that was restricted to modeling stuff.

Sorry if that looks like I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth, but it is
what it is.

Can't wait for next year.
