The Fail Safe mode on the 8U is great, BUT IT DOESN'T WORK UNLESS YOU TELL IT TO!!!!!  
For some reason, most people won't make the
effort to do it right.


Just go into the primary menu, turn on F/S for the channels you want, and give it a 
desired value should the plane lose signal.
Mine drops the flaps, raises the ailerons, and compensates elevator so the glider will 
fly wings level, slowly until whatever
problem there is can be fixed.
