Oso De Oro is a park specifically designed to meet the needs of handicapped
children so other activities are limited.
You can't fly model airplanes in any of the school grounds and I assume the
same is true in the parks. This a fairly recent restriction. People used
fly power and sailplanes in the North edge of Woodward park but the city
put
a stop to it when they found the City was not covered by insurance. I have
seen indications the people are flying sailplanes again. The little old
ladies stopped model sailboats in the park because you might scare the
fish.
Woodward park is a bird sanctuary.
Fresno Soaring Society's field in is Lost Lake Park which is a Fresno
County park. We have been there for over 10 years and are welcomed by the
County. There was a proposal to turn our field into a 9 hole golf course.
The County said that no one who is currently using the park will be
displaced by the golf course. If they hold to that we will be able to stay
and the golf course is on hold.

I just heard that the Oso De Oro city park in Fresno, CA doesn't allow
park flyers. What's up with that?
Further, the Oso De Oro is tiny! Yet it's manned by a parks a rec
employee! What's happened in Fresno? Did someone get hurt or a lawsuit
filed? Is this a city wide policy?
