First SOAR club contest today, 4 winches out, 6 rounds of man on man in
20mph winds! That's a way to bring in the new season!
Great to see everyone today, and see what they are flying. I see Bill
Wingstedt has got comfortable with his ICON, and to my surprise, Karl "I am
ICON man" Miller looks like he has his ICON figured out as well. (Black
Sabbath tune) It was an ICON day, top three places were with piped up ICON's.
The Chicago guys did well in the wind, we piped up, launched high and
surfed most of the day, picking off thermals when we could. I heard
several guys say this was the most wind they had ever launched in, I would
say it was right up there with me. And the turbulence across the landing
zone made it extra special, that is if you could make it back to the tape. ;-)
Lots of wing flexing fun today.
