Ok, so I'm looking at replacing some JR receivers that when pthhh! (for no apparent reason)

Went out looking to replace some 770's, and found that things really have moved a bit since I last bought any 'new' equipment.

So, my questions:

1) I fly a JR 9303 radio. I see the 770 receivers are "back ordered", and since 2 of mine just quit working, I'm wondering if they're just totally defunct (I don't even see a 72 MHz offering anymore). Anyone in the know?

2) Looks like the 790 'scan select' is replacing the 770. Straight up compatible with the 9303 using the synthesized tx module? Regular module?

3) Anyone using the 790? Pro's/con's? Does the 'select a freq' seem to work well, or would you leave it at home for a big contest (like Visalia)?

Inquiring minds want to know!
