Sport fans,
An account has been set up for donation to the Save 60 Acres South defense fund.
I want to take this time to thank Brevk Baldwin (hope I got the spelling correct) for the first $100 dollar donation to the cause. Mr. Baldwin is from Brooklyn New York and his support of flying in the Seattle area is really amazing. I cannot thank him enough.
Unless you tell me other wise, all who donate will be announced on RCSE.
For those of you that have not had a chance to read the lawsuit, a full copy is attached. Please take the time to read the fact section. It was expanded to provide information to all in an effort to allow you to make up your own mind on the topic.
The lawsuit not only tries to protect 60 Acres South, it also go on the offensive. Currently, soccer is played on 18 fields on 60 acres north, right across the street. The thrust of this suit is to kick soccer off the 18 filed to the north. As a club of sailplane pilots, we have been on the defensive for the last 25 years. Its is nice for a change to go on the offensive. I hope you find it interesting. As you can see from the complaint, we have been collecting information for many years on the subject. However it was not until just last year that we discovered the information on the definition of a regional park.
I am getting about 50 emails a week from all kinds of people. So far not a single person is in favor of expanding soccer. I did not expect such a one sided response. Surprising is the number of parents with their kids in soccer that have emailed me and do not support expansion of soccer either. I really did not expect that.
The lawsuit was served last week and the City Attorney has filed a notice of appearance. For lack of a better word, the ball is in their court.
I would also like to thank Rene' Cespedes, another attorney who will be helping me out on this one. IN case you do not know, the lawsuit is funded entirely on donated funds. I know the local club will help defray out of pocket costs, but the time spent by the two attorneys is being funded entirely by donations.
If you need more information on the topic send your browser to save60acres.com. The site is updated several times a month. Check out the new cartoon, just posted! In addition, please send your letter to the King County Counsel. All of their information can be found on the above website.
