The 2009 World Games (WAG) to be held in Turin Italy is going to include three
aeromodeling events. The three RC classes are Artistic Aerobatics, Indoor
Musicals and Hand-Thrown Gliders. These are not the regular FAI classes but
rather events in the FAI Airsport Promotion Classes F6A, F6B and F6D. Class F6D
is Hand-Thrown Gliders and the rules are in the FAI Sporting Code. See
http://wag2009.free.fr/ciam_sel.htm for details and links regarding the WAG.

We have a good opportunity to participate as there are slots reserved for each
continent but currently there isn't any organized activity in the USA. I need
to make it absolutely clear AMA is not funding any WAG programs so participants
are on their own. However I do believe AMA would assist administratively in the
effort.

Selection contests can be either national or international. It is not difficult
to organize one or more national selection contests. The contest simply must be
registered with AMA as a WAG selection contest. Any chartered club could run
this. There is a lot of interest in F3K and RC hand launch glider competition
so those of you running these kinds of contests may want to consider including
a WAG event.
