Err... Didn't you just have a "situation" not even a week ago with Craig Allen where he sent a public reply back to the RCSE copying a private reply you sent him? :-) Am I going to get a "Sorry Ryan" post like he posted for you? ;-) This was a private reply to you. I have copied RCSE in this reply, but it may never make it... Right Ryan!
And a good point too! For all of you who are a bit lazy about your titles....Ryan sent me his email off line, I saw the title RE RCSE so when I replied with my general note about getting some detail, (which I knew Ryan would have :-) I cc the soaring exchanges! I am pretty careful that when I respond to an RCSE email with a private message to erase RCSE from the title bar...for the reason above. So apologies to Ryan for not noticing ! And applause to Ryan for giving us the rest of the story! ;-) Thanks Ryan! Gordy In a message dated 3/3/2008 10:53:10 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Err... I have copied RCSE in this reply, but it may never make it... You specifically said does anyone have numbers on a "2.4 friendly fuse plane". I copied that text (and only that text) in my reply to you. I should have indicated I am flying the Psyko, but thought you would remember I fly a Psyko. :-) I own no full carbon fuselage planes at this time. Had I been intending to copy RCSE on the reply (and that would not have been useful, as I did not really have any useful info to add, I just wanted to send you a "hey" type email), I would have mentioned the plane. Since you sort of "outed me" here, I like the AR7000 and I think it is a good size RX and fits in my Psyko fuselage nicely. I have the main RX sitting above the battery about as close to the tip of the nose of the glider as I can get it, with the antennas in 90 degree different planes (both sort of vertical). The antennas are each on opposite sides of the battery. The battery probably blanks one RX antenna at any given time. I have the sat RX behind the servos near the LE of the wing. One antennas is in the horizontal plane one in the vertical plane. The sat RX is likely blanketed by the wing (as you know, all carbon ahead of the control surfaces) during launch and during some parts of circling. I do hope that Horizon comes out with a logging version of this RX. I only own a 7 channel transmitter, so I guess excuse me for thinking it makes the most sense for me to stick with 7 channel (or less, I suppose, for a park flyer) RXes. :-) I never really even gave any thought to the error logging, since it seemed to work so well and I timed for several folks using DX7s with their sailplanes this past season. But, checking for fades and holds sounds kind of fun, now that you start talking about it... The steps I took was I followed the range check procedure in the Spektrum manual. I had a friend hold the TX with the bind button down and then I walked out and counted paces till the Psyko quit responding. This was at about 70 paces (not very scientific, I'll get the GPS out and try it again). Then I walked back towards him and tried positioning the plane at different attitudes to simulate circling, launch, coming back towards me, etc. see if I could get it to quit responding. It never did. I did talk about the contest. _http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=827223_ (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=827223) I did not mention who won (but if you follow the link, you can see more details) . It was Chris Lee that won with a Pike Superior. Not that it really matters, we were all winners for enjoying each other's company and enjoying the good weather. So far as I'm aware, I was the only pilot there flying 2.4ghz Saturday. And, for the record, I was flying ch 37 72mhz in the Paragon, and that worked great as always too! :-) Ryan **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & Finance.
