A nice idea but we did one last year and our club cleaned up. Obviously we think this is because we're just superior pilots but it might also have something to do with the flying conditions at our field. If the lift is poor -- it happens -- then we will have to work at the flight times but if is medium to good then we get people cruising around for extended flights (one or two seem to be able to do an hour or so without much problem but I reckon 25..40 minutes is more typical of the pack). This isn't about bragging, its trying to get the contest more even because what's a true achievement in one part of the country is run of the mill in another. There's probably not time to devise some exotic task and scoring scheme to try to level the different locales for this contest but in the future we may have to figure it out on spreads....how flight times vary across the field of entrants for a particular club, that sort of thing. (BTW -- I really like the plane.
