I've used Kimbro servo savers for years.  No flutter problems or
stripped gears, but you do have to convince yourself that the flaps are
somewhere near where you want them to be during launch, etc., although
you really know that the springs are being overcome at least somewhat by
the force on the flaps.  At landing speeds, I don't really think it's a
problem.
