Most of the bigger West Coast contests are run with multi-classes flying
together, and contestants are usually allowed to enter in multiple classes.
Of
course, it is difficult or impossible to run Man-on-Man contests with
multiple classes and pilots allowed to enter multiple classes, and most West
Coast
usually have shorter task times then are prevalent at contests in the Midwest
and South. I've flown in contests throughout the country, and have CD'd them
in California and in Texas. All of the different types of contests can be
interesting, challenging, and fun. It's up to the organizer to present
contest formats that will attract the pilots in his region.

Ed and All.
This is an idea that is already done in some of the Auto Racing venues.
There are several Auto classes all racing at the same time. Makes for a
great race.
The only problem I can see with this approach is if there are two or three
classes each modeler would have to decide which ONE they would like to
complete in. At smaller contests there are usually multiple class entries.
