I built my Bubble Dancers when I had the time and did not have the
money. In addition, I have always loved building models. It was a
great experience.

Arguably I still have the time. After all I am retired. But my first
priority has always been to compete. And to compete seriously means to
practice seriously. And to compete seriously means that you have to be,
to some extent, indifferent as to what might happen to the "tool" your
are flying with. Notwithstanding that the ARF's we fly are just flat
our better built than the home brews most of us make, it is just easier
to look at a broken pile of carbon, kevlar and ultracote and pick up the
phone and get another than it is to take the object of hours of labor
back to the shop and put in more hours to come up with a heavier, uglier
plane.

So even with the time a retired guy supposedly has on his hands, I have
voted with my wallet to buy and fly my competition planes and, in the
chill of winter, to build fun stuff.

Happy Landings,

Don
