If you are REALLY CHEAP, see if you can find the RCM book called
Building Foam Wings (?). It is slightly thicker than a magazine and bright
orange on white. I built the bow they describe for less than $5 in parts.
It consists of a 43x1x3 piece of wood, 3/16 music wire, a household
extension cord with the plugs cut off and clips added on, 4 feet of
stainless steel wire and 2 pieces of 1/2" dowel about 2 inches each as an
insulator over the wire to pull the wire across the foam with your fingers.
I tried and discarded the overhead pulley system and simply laid the bow on
my forearms as I cut the cores. The most time consuming part of building
was spending a half hour using a hole saw to cut about a dozen holes in the
bow to lighten it (not required, but it makes it easier to work with).
After a couple of practice cuts, I was cutting cores very easily and while
it is not as foolproof as the hands off cutters, it saved me the cost of
buying one and I used the money to graduate from a Wal Mart hand vacuum pump
to an Aerospace Composite Products AutoVac kit.
If you have any specific questions on the bow, e-mail me personally and I
will be happy to answer them.

Joe,
I would be EXTREMELY INTERESTED in finding out where you found the
cutting bow, web page etc.....can you describe it and give a sort of review
and what kinds of cores you have done with it? Is it all inclusive $50?
TIA
Rodger

Wish I could find the URL for the site I purchased it from and I would post
it. What's the big deal between Del and Feathercut...
