It is very difficult for many to do the contest requirements for LSF. There are only
ten members in our club. What would you all say if the requirement for LSF III was to
have 6 contests or one perfect flight of 10 minutes and a perfect 100 landing? LSF IV
would require 2 perfect scores. LSF V 3 perfect scores instead of 6 contests and 3
wins. It would seem as difficult and require as much air time or more and open the
field to those that are unable (either financially or otherwise) to attend all the
required contests, but have the needed flying skills. It has gotten to the point
where it is almost impossible for even the best fliers to find enough contests meeting
the minimum participation. Meeting the contest requirements has imposed a severe
financial burden on many fliers that was not there when the rules were first
established. Times have changed since the rules were first created, and even the ESL
has had a drop in participation.
Opinions are very welcome, before going through the long task of trying to amend the
requirements.
