Good Morning
I had to cancel the Nat's two years in a row,, due to my demanding
buisness,,,, well when you own it , your married to it!!! I was bummed
both times,,, I know it's a good contest... Many of my flyin buddies
have informed me that i missed a good contest.. I believe them.
I think one of the things i missed about going, is meeting all the
pilots that frequent this exchange,, meeting the people who duke it out
on here. flying against them, and learning from all of them....it's kind
of cool to associate faces with names,,, I was allways under the
impression that this contest was the big daddy of contests.. i know
visalia has more flyers in one category than anywhere.. but what i was
refering to is the fact that lots more people from all over would be at
the nats...because it's centrally located, more classes are flown. and
its for the national title....
It has appeared to me that the national title hasn't much clout
according to some people,, well i don't agree with this... If you go to
the nats , you are flying against who ever comes for that title,, If a
pilot chooses not to show, and mabe challenge the title, then they don't
have much to say about that...seems like to some people the nats is a
little below them... I don't think we should let them take away from the
importance and fun of competing in the nats, or mabe AMA should use the
nats as a sort of stepping stone to USA team selections... I guess i am
curious why this isn't .... mabe a qualifyer?????
I guess some people have to be dead nuts serious, and only go big or
stay home,, or go when it's convienent for them... but It;s like phoenix
in febuary,,, what a great contest,, lots of flyin, and for those of us
from alittle cooler climate,, a break from winter. after each day pilots
dig out thier electic stuff, throw lights on it, and fly untill they
feel like it... and the BBQ. you can hear people talking about how they
did, good or bad... pilots make this sport happen... all the
pilots...Nats pilots, phoenix pilots,,, visalia pilots,, southern
pilots.. we are all in the same boat... i think the clicks are
everywhere.. and that is natural... but we are all in it for the same
thing.... fun. and competitive soaring....
I will see you all at the next Nat's... for sure!!!!!!!!!
