Anyone see the Junkyard Wars show (on TLC) where they had to make an r/c
bomber? If this show is to be believed, scrap yards are full of styrofoam
blanks, 20" wooden propellers, 4 channel radios, and hot wire cutters. I
gotta get down to my local junk yard!
Anyway, one team made a big blimp (good thing they found a giant roll of
unused mylar!), and the other made a more convential r/c plane with
wire-cut foam polyhedral wings and a weed-eater engine.
The airplane seemed to be a good design, but it was apparently doomed by
being too heavy, being launched in a bizarre fashion (5 foot ground roll,
then off a cliff), and questionable piloting skills (I know, arm-chair
piloting).
Seeing as the target they had to drop a bomb on was at the bottom of a
quarry, I would have ditched the engine and made a slope glider.
