While I'm confident that Richard is proceeding safely, I want to post a reminder to others considering bungee launching. For average foamies or smaller, lighter conventional planes a standard bungee is sufficient. With the average strength bungee safety is important. WEAR EYE PROTECTION. Utilize some safe guard to prevent the stake from pulling loose and becoming airborne. For the monster bungees safety is beyond important. It's paramount. These bungees really hurt. If some metal piece remains on the end of the rubber the hurt increases by an order of magnitude or more. If you get hit in the face or, heaven forbid, the eyes; it's even worse. You simply MUST wear EYE PROTECTION. Additionally, your stake must have a redundant and/or idiot proof method of attachment. The use of a release mechanism is a fantastically good idea because it gets you out of the "line of fire" should mishap occur.
