Good question. My personal answer would be that it depends on how
quickly DL planes come into use in your club. Right now we tailor them
so that anyone can be competitive, but the guy with a really good
javelin launch still has the advantage. I would assume as DL starts to
spread through the club, the IDEAL would be to slowly increase the
launch height of the zip-starts as it seems fair to do so. The reality
is that nobody is going to keep modifying the zip-starts -- when it
becomes obvious it is past time to increase their zip, somebody will do
it, but probably only once. I haven't been to an HLG contest in a long
time (they are monthly on weekends and way on the other side of Dallas
from me) and cannot even tell you whether anyone is now flying DL in our
club HLG contests.... That is MY answer. So what is YOUR answer to
your question?
