I'd try a gadget called a "Unibit", also known as a stepdrill. As for the
Gordy dilemma, take him for a nice cruise with about 50 lb. of log chain
wrapped around him. He's lost a lot of weight so he should be a little less
buoyant. BTW- I have a couple Unibits, they are great for drilling holes in
composite fuselages for wing rods and the like. They also work well in sheet
metal. No more triangular shaped holes.

Oh Geez, Gordy is gonna get me for this. But it is sort of
sailplane related, in that it involves fiberglass and wind.
Wife bought a Sunfish sailboat. I need to install a drain plug.
Gotta make a 7/8" hole in the fiberglass transom. If I use a spade bit will
this mess up the FG? Anybody out there performed this surgery before?
