I too flew my Sidewinder for the first time today. I was a little unsure
about that first test throw, so I tossed it javelin style first. The sides
of the fuse felt waaaay too soft for that, but I just wanted to make sure
it was trimmed. I used a P-Mix on the Futaba to give some rudder
compensation, then I grabbed the wing like it shows in the manual, spun and
flung. Awesome launch in progress. I only had time for a few throws,
since I had driven down to Trenton from the Meadowlands, worked and still
had to drive back and pack everything at the hotel. There just happened to
be a great field next to the post office I will be working at for the next
couple of days. Funny how there is just enough time for one more
launch...and another..ok, just 1 more. I will have to add a little tail
weight and check the pull/pull lines (first time using them and wasn't sure
how tight to make them). I like the plane almost as much as my original
balsa skinned Monarch. Of course, that one NEVER launched like this.
