This weekend I was adding lead to the nose of my plane. Somewhere I read that I could push clay into the nose of the fuse to take an impression of the cavity. Next use the clay mold and stick it into Plaster of Paris to make an inside mold, allowing you to poor the lead into the plaster mold instead your fuse. I let the plaster set up for an hour and proceeded to melt my lead. When I poured the lead into the plaster mold it spattered out everywhere. Kind of like mixing water with hot grease. I believe the problem was the plaster mold was still retaining moisture. The hot lead hit the mold, which appeared to be dry after 1hr and spattered. I'm going to to let the mold dry out for a few days and try again. If anybody has any experience with this suggestions are welcome.
