The Hobie Hawk is a legal RES model. You don't have to have all three
controls. And you can even fly a rudder only model. V-tails can also be
used instead of Rudder and Elevator.

In the new RES class even flying wings are legal but the trailing edge
devises can be used only for elevator and a separate rudder must be used.
All in all, I think we have a good set of rules. I just wish someone had
filed the cross proposal to delete the no skeg rule. Several people
promised to file a cross proposal but nobody came through. I am not
opposed to banning skegs but I think they should be banned in all classes
or allowed in all classes. I normally fly my RES Sirius II in unlimited
competition and it would be a royal pain to keep installing or removing the
skeg.
