I recently bought some of the tungsten powder. Golfsmiths is less than a
half mile from where I work and I was in the process of coming up with a
ballast system for my new Addiction so I thought I would give it a try.
I started to do some experiments with the tungsten powder. I found that
poured lead is more dense and weights more per given area of mass. I also
found that #9 lead shot is just a couple of grams difference in the same
area of mass compared to uncompacted tungsten powder. Not enough savings to
justify the expense. I expected the tungsten to be twice the weight and
was disappointed with my findings. I think that I will stick to lead. My
advice is to save your money.
