Bill, Understand you frustration, I run into the same type problems with my 8U but thankfully Don Edberg's book makes up for a lot of the shortcomings of the Futaba Manual. Too bad he doesn't do a book on the 9Z. Was seriously considering the 9Z until a conversation with Jack Strother about his MPX Profi 4000. Now I'm saving up my pennies for a 4000. Seems you can program each servo individually and mix them anyway you want. Programming seems fairly simple when compared to the Futaba methods. Know that doesn't help your present situation but you might consider finding a stinky (re: power) pilot that would take the 9Z off your hands and get a MPX 3030 or 4000. Just my two cents worth... 8-)...

I have a Futaba 9ZAW. I have it installed in a scale ASW-27 that has flaps (2 servos), ailerons (2 servos), and spoilers (2 servos - Y'd together). Flaps work off the left slider. BUT, ALL the flap movement occurs between the slider all the way up and the mid-point where it beeps. Anyone know how to get a less compressed movement. The last 1/2 of the slider motion does nothing. Also, any idea how to set up the flaps on a three-position switch?? I tried assigning the flaps to a 3-position switch, but could not get what I wanted. This is No flap at pos 1, 1/2 flap at pos 2 and full flap at pos 3. Of course the manual is useless. Futaba REALLY needs to rewrite it using actual terminology. They use Speed Flap and Brake Flaps and other such nonsense terms. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bill Malvey Ladera Ranch, California RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
