Hi, I'm looking at building a new plane over the new few months as weekends get rained out, etc and I'm looking for some suggestions from people with a vlue. I've been flying a DAW TG-3 and a 2M GP Spirit for the past few months. Mostly hi-launch thermal, and some light slope/thermal flying. So I've been looking at the Skybench Bird series.
I really like the light wing loading of the 2M lil bird, but it doesn't have spoilers and I've heard several times larger planes just fly better. I've really learned to like the spoilers in the Spirit. So I was looking at the 100" Big Bird. I've been told their both excelent planes/kits, but can the 100" Big Bird fly well on a slope launch/transition to thermals? Is it manuverable enough to make it back/land on the slope when there's no lift, etc? How about in light lift, at 7.5oz/sq foot can it thermal as well as it's little bother? Any other comments I'de appreciate. I've alost looked at the Chrylalis 2M, but I don't have a radio with any mixing for the V-tail. Extra weight I assume is from the spoilers and big tail. (5oz seems like a lot though) Thanks a million, -Andrew --- Andrew Stanley-Jones | "It's kind of fun to do the impossible."
