Daryl,
In the many years that we have been flying seeded MOM in the OH and IN
area, I have never seen a second group or lower pilot win as long as
frequency control was absolute, one man a freq or no conflicts up top. Ya,
in the club contest situation, two guys end up on 49 and they are
second-third, third goes down, smokes his group and the low man in the high
group smokes the high group, ya guy in second group wins. I realize that
Visalia or SWC could not do this, maybe that is why we like it, our contest
sizes fit the bill and to win there is no slack given, you must fight all
day to succeed.

It is not perfect, nothing is, but it would be fun to watch every now an
again at the big shows...Marc

I know that seeded man on man is very popular in some places. First let me
say, that I prefer man on man, but I don't believe in
"seeding" so the top pilots fly against the top pilots all day, mediocre
pilots only fly against themselves all day, etc....I've
seen it happen too often in slope racing - the organizers think it's a good
idea, the top guys beat each other up all day, and a
non-competitive middle of the pack guy usually wins. (Then I have to hear
for the next 10 years - "Hey Daryl, you remember the day I
kicked your ass?????" And I never even flew against the guy.) ;-) Oh,
but I'm not bitter... ;-)

I realize this may be an unpopular stance, but the only truly fair man on
man contest is either a completely random generated draw
(luck of the draw), or a matrix is developed so everybody flies against
everybody an equal amount of times.
