This Saturday, TPG will be holding it's first club contest of the year. While it is a club contest, TPG contests are usually very good contests in their own right. We often have 20 flyers with 4-5 of the top 10 IHLGF pilots attending.
At this contest we will be testing some new task for the IHLGF to be held the first weekend in June. The tasks are still being finalized as I write this. Should be lots of fun. Some of the tasks to my knowledge have never been flown before. Also fun will be to see new designs that people are working on for upcoming season. Last year was the year of DLG and Gyros. This may be the year of radically new Xfoil generated airfoils. This year, we will be having montly HL contests leading up to the IHLGF. If you live in So Cal, should be a great way to practice for the big event. For those in other parts of the country, you might actually consider coming to Poway on May 4th when we will have the IHLGF warm up where we fly the first day of the IHLGF. The contest will be held at the Poway Thermal field. Directions can be found at www.torreypinesgulls.org. We will fly 5 rounds to make it worth the drive for those coming from the LA area. First heat will be flown at 9am. Registration closes at 8:45. Look forward to seeing you there. As always, beginners are welcome and encouraged. We will help you.
