Check out Jerry Krainock's photon: http://www.netmeister.net/~jerry/photon.htm
It's not the cheapest, but it's VERY strong and a great flyer. The kevlar d-box wings will last much longer than bagged wings. Also replacement parts are readily available in L.A. area from Jerry. It's hard to buy dlg's used since they are still relatively recent. You could buy a used javelin hlg and try to convert it to discus. I flew a converted javelin hlg at the Paramount Ranch clinic, and even though its launch height is decent, the additional weight of reinforcements kills thermaling performance. From personal experience I've found this to be frustrating and ultimately you'll end up buying a true dlg anyway. It isn't necessary to learn to dlg on a beat up old plane. As long as your first attempts are on a calm day, and you don't immediately try to go for ballistic launches, you shouldn't have any problems. This may not apply to specifically to you, but beginning hlg'ers should stay away from cheap, weak planes. I started off hlg with a chrysalis and almost quit out of frustration of having to fix the plane after every dorky landing. The $300 I spent on a 'simply the best' was the best rc investment I've ever made. That plane should have been called 'simply indestructible.' You do get what you pay for. good luck, Piotr --- In [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Does anyone have a DLG plane, maybe ready to fly (less radio is ok), for > sale?
