Jerry,

If you are implying that RES planes need some form of help on the landing
task,
you should re-check the SWC scores. I'm fine competing heads up with the
open guys.

Subject: Re: [RCSE] Devaluing landings

I was at a contest once where landings didn't count and everyone who made
their times just flew across the field and push down elevator at zero.
Instead of devaluing landings I think the landing tasks should be made
tougher. At the recent SWC contest they used a 100" tape and Skip Miller won
by averaging in the mid 90s. I am disappointed when you go to a major
contest like the NATS and they do a Mickey Mouse runway landing task.
Learning to do more difficut landing tasks will make us all better fliers.
And opening up another can of worms. I think there should be two landing
tapes, one for RES and a shorter one for full house planes. If you are going
to have flaps/al you ought to be able to hit a smaller target.
Jerry
