I put the RDS in my 60" EPP wing. I used the yellow inner plastic
of golden rod as a tunnel for the wing rod to pass through. I only
had to make a straight slice with an xacto, then push the golden
rod in place with a little liquid nails to glue them and seal the
slice. I also cut the servo holes to fit tight and shimmed them
with balsa -no slop. The length of the rod was a factor with mine.
there is a bit of twist that happens because of the length. If I were
to do it over, I think I would try a larger gague piano wire. This
may be less of a factor with a plank wing because your chord
length and travel from the servo to the elevon isn't very far.
I say go for it. You can always turn your servos to a conventional
set up if it fails. Of course, failure is the last thing you want when
DS'ing.
