Hi Dave
The big chain stores like Kragen, Napa and Autozone seem to have problems with parts
older than 1973
and if they do have a longshaft it's twice the price. Look for independent stores
like"Billy Bob's
Auto Parts and Bait Shop" or find a local starter rebuilder and ask for a Lester 3115
starter (or a
3110 if you can't thermal :-) Should be about $65-$70 with a $20 core although the
core charges
are on the increase (We need to start thinking about alternative motors). Here's link
to a page
about lure coursing winches (dogs chasing a rag) that has some longshaft motor
shopping information
http://www.injoy-1.com/info_2.htm although the Napa numbers don't seem to be valid.
