Hi, Simon. I own an Astro 112 D, and I have experienced the same thing as you with my Saft 3000 mAh NiMH. I'd like to know if any mod exists to be done (even at the factory) in order to avoid false peaks with NiMH cells. BTW you're talking of Ri increase detected. How is it done ? Perhaps with small periodical discharge peaks applied to the cell under charge, as in many recent chargers ? TIA.
Ciao from Italy. With NiCD's the cell resistance increase (-10 to -20mV) is what is detected correctly by the 110/112, whereas the NiMH's relies on a smaller window. This is due to the NiMH cell temperature-rise first, then resistance due to that latent heating. My results when using the 112 with 3000 NiMH's resulted in poor peak detection, and altimately cell damage. ------------- Tullio Bonfiglio [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://space.virgilio.it/ocapofer
