You might look into the DAW 1-26 (either 1.5 HLG or the "2 meter" version).
Both can be built with ailerons. They fly well and are close to
indestructible. Good aileron trainers for slope or thermal. I bought one
for a club trainer. I've got several fancy-schmantzy full-house glass
ships, but I still enjoy flying the 1-26. I've been a lot more comfortable
attempting certain maneuvers with that ship, before trying them with
something more fragile.
