A cheap sloper?...
I wish it was more durable but, for the price I couldn't pass it up.  I just picked up a Gentle lady new and unbuilt in the box, including new receiver, servos, and batteries for $65 including  the shipping off of eBay.
As far as designing a new wooden  plane, why bother, there are tons of these deals out there.
As far as foamies go, you could buy a roll of fiber tape,  a roll of colored packing tape, a tube of Goop, and some epp foam.  Feather cut a 7037, or 3021 airfoil with a 10% AR.  Cut out a decent fuse shape fuse length 40-50% of wing span, add your corroplast stabilizers 12-18% of wing area (rudder heighth no less than tips of polyhedral section), rudder and elevator 4-7% of wing area,  nose length 1-1.5 times the chord,  dihedral 1"per foot on inner panel-polyhedral 1.75"per foot on outer panel, wing-stab gap 1.8-2.5 times the chord, inclinate the leading edge 2.5 degrees and declinate the stab leading edge 1 degree.  Dial in your CG 25% from the LE, give it a name, and go fly, for under $40.
