I am probably the smallest of the small but working hard to grow. I didn't go into this thinking about how to make a profit but rather how to cut my losses. I have my own stuff that is on it's way to market so in the mean time I am selling things made by others and using the profits to help develop my own products. If you make say 15% on a $100 kit how many do you have to sell to make $50,000 a year? Then take away advertising, banking fees and replacement of damaged items, etc. and it gets harder. I am focused on the sailplane part of the hobby because that is there my heart is. I do some electrics to help broaden my audience. I do this because I like the process and if I can make availabe some cool toys than all the better. I'm loosing money but for the time being I can deal with it. The future is unknown. Maybe if I focused on mass produced kits made in foreign lands of dubious quality and just sold to mass merchandisers it would work out. That ain't my dream so I ain't going there.
